NTT Disaster Emergency Message Dial (171)
Disaster Emergency Message Dial is a voice message board that is provided by NTT for when an earthquake occurs.Thanks to the numbers of fixed-line telephones that there will be inside any disaster-stricken area, messages can be left for or played back to your relatives when the level of telecommunications traffic is high and it is difficult to get through.
- During a disaster: the recording time limit is 30 seconds and the storage period is 48 hours. Only 10 messages are permitted.
- Mobile phones: Mobile phone numbers (090, 080), PHS numbers (070) and IP telephone numbers (050) cannot be used as message boards.
- From overseas: message recording and playback cannot be used from overseas
Get prepared
NTT provides the opportunity to practice using Disaster Emergency Message Dial to enable people to learn how to use "171". Practice dates are:
- The first day of every month
- The first three days of the new year (Jan. 1 - Jan. 3)
- Disaster volunteer week (Jan. 15 - Jan. 21)
- Disaster preparedness week (Aug. 30 - Sept. 5)
Note :
- The message recording time is about 30 seconds and the storage period 6 hours on practice days. Only 10 messages can be stored.
